Wave 1049 Online Privacy Policy

At this time, the only information we collect is the standard information contained in web & audio server log files, which include the IP address of each individual site visitor, and the pages on our site visited by that IP address. We do not have any means by which to convert an IP address to an individual residence and, for the most part, neither does anyone else. We can tell from this information that some user, somewhere in the world, visited these pages on our site, and/or heard these songs, promotions, jingles, and (someday) spots. That's about it.

Sometimes, we can, and occasionally do, glean some geographic information from these collected IP addresses, but this information does not include any personally identifiable information, and this information available to us is notoriously incomplete or, flat-out inaccurate. For example, we might test an IP address and determine that it belongs to a particular ISP (AT&T, Comcast, for example), and that it was issued out of Atlanta, or Savannah, or any number of other cities. This, however, doesn't mean that the user of the IP address being tested is located in that community, as any user can be, and often is, hundreds of miles away from the city which assigned the IP address. Add to this that any individual user's IP address can change at any given time, and to find out who you are from this information would require a court order, and there is simply no scenario where anyone in our line of work could justify a need for that. IP addresses are kind-of like phone numbers, but no one knows your number. And if we get your number, we have no means by which to turn that into a name, or an exact city, or anything even close to that.

Sometimes, for business accounts, we can determine, down to the physical address, where that business is. This happens when that business has registered its IP address, and we can reasonably determine from publicly available tools that business' name and city, then, quite simply, Google it. But, in any given building, it could be literally anyone that is actually using the website, and we aren't going to come knockin' on your door to find out who that person is. For example, we have a regular listener who works in a building whose IP address is registered to Wells-Fargo. That's all we know about that user, that he or she is listening via an IP address which belongs to Wells-Fargo somewhere in the world, probably in the USA. We have another regular listener who, apparently, works for a kitchen supply store in Atlanta, which has 3 locations, so this person could be at any one of the three. Most businesses, particularly small businesses, do not register the IP addresses used at their physical premises - there are precious few good reasons why anyone would need to do this. In fact, there really isn't any good reason to do this...

About all that we use this information for is determine whether or not a listener has been here before - that is, is this user a one-hit wonder or a repeat-offender, as we affectionately refer to them internally, just to satisfy our own curiousity. This information, sparse at it is, is used for no other purpose whatsoever, and we don't share this (rather useless) information with anyone ever. And, we don't set or use cookies at all. So, you're pretty safe here.

Although we don't collect or use such information, some of the providers of the services we use, like Yahoo!, Twitter, maybe Facebook, and any content provider associated with any links that we place here may, to the extent which they are able, collect information. If you're interested, you'll want to consult their privacy policy pages on their websites.

Should any of this change, we'll post it here.
